About the team:

You’ll form an integral part of Luno’s global Legal, Risk & Compliance team, all of whom are dedicated to ensuring Luno meets the expectations of its regulators and external stakeholders, while providing our customers with the highest quality products and services that they want and need.

You’ll also work side-by-side with Luno’s large team on the ground in Kuala Lumpur. Luno Malaysia’s senior leadership team is well known for its leadership and expertise in the digital asset space and you’ll play a key role in providing them with sound strategic advice on, and handling on their behalf, the relationships critical to Luno’s continued success in Malaysia.

The role in a nutshell:

We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior External Affairs Manager, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is up for the challenge of leading Luno’s engagement with key external stakeholders.

Reporting to Luno’s Chief Legal Officer, you’ll join Luno’s global Legal, Risk & Compliance team and play an integral part in its ongoing efforts to shape the crypto regulatory environment and demonstrate the enormously positive financial and societal impact that digital assets can have.

You’ll also get involved in the nuts and bolts of Luno’s operations, acting as a key participant in product development that touches the Malaysian regulatory space, and helping ensure that Luno Malaysia continues to adhere to the regulatory obligations that accompany its position as a Digital Asset Exchange regulated by the Securities Commission Malaysia.

Your mission will be:

  • You will lead and co-ordinate Luno’s engagement with government, regulators and law enforcement in Malaysia.
  • You will develop and communicate core initiatives and strategy to ensure optimal maintenance and development of those critical relationships.
  • You will act as a key conduit between local and global teams working closely with Luno’s Compliance team to ensure regulatory expectations are met.
  • You will maintain an in-depth understanding of the public policy landscape in Malaysia, quickly identifying key policy issues and working with teams across the business to understand and distill Luno’s perspective on those issues for communication to external stakeholders.
  • You will create and execute key messaging and communication plans to support Luno’s strategic objectives and protect and enhance its reputation with government and regulatory audiences.
  • You will be a key Luno representative at the Malaysian Digital Asset Platform Association (and other industry associations), and drive collaborative initiatives that benefit the entire digital asset industry.
  • You will regularly brief, and provide advice to, Luno’s Senior Management team, both locally and globally, on External Affairs issues.

A little about you:

  • 5 + years of experience in either a political, government affairs, or regulatory environment, ideally in the fintech, or financial services sector. Experience working for a regulator in the financial services sector is a plus point.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to understand and adapt to different regulatory environments.
  • A strong understanding of public policy affecting new and innovative markets.
  • A willingness to collaborate across geographies, functional areas and competencies.
  • A predisposition for taking ownership and consistently delivering excellence.
  • A ‘get it done’ attitude that doesn’t shy away from getting your hands dirty and taking on the tasks necessary to deliver on an objective.
  • A desire for continuous learning, with the ability to quickly adapt to an ever-changing environment.
